To avoid exactly such situations, I started learning German on Duolingo, the app that makes learning fun, satisfying, and interesting for me.
We have bad experiences with little things even with people speaking the same language, so it’s a no-brainer that this problem becomes two folds when there’s a language barrier. From reading local station names to being able to understand the menu in a restaurant, the number of things I could think of regarding language barriers was a lot. This was a scenario that was running in my head when I thought of all the things that could possibly happen to me when I move abroad.
